I am a 31-year-old non traditional transfer student from Burlington County College. While there, I was a member of the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) and transitioned to being one here. The TCNJ EOF staff, especially my advisor Kim Quick, has helped me transition to my new environment, and get used to my new college.
Besides my academic pursuits, I have been a sportswriter for 12 1/2 years. Through this, I have been able to meet many sports connections and cover many big events such as four Heisman Trophy ceremonies, two Little League World Series and an Army-Navy college football game.
In November, an ESPN sports anchor told me that I should apply for the ESPNU Campus Connection program. I thought I would have no shot since I had no prior experience in sports broadcasting.
But I was surprised when I got selected to be a part of the program for the spring semester. While this is expected to be a one semester opportunity, I am hopeful it could last my entire TCNJ tenure.
I will be doing video broadcasts that will be televised on ESPNU about the TCNJ athletic programs, fans, and student-athletes.
