This year’s EOF Spotlight went to Genesis Arteta, who is a first-generation college student. She majored in sociology at the College, and is also a first-generation immigrant from Lima, Peru. Throughout her undergraduate career, she has been very involved in different organizations on campus.

She has served on the executive board for Union Latina. Arteta was also president for Alpha Kappa Delta Sociology Honor Society, Chi Upsilon Sigma National Latin Sorority Inc. and the Unified Greek Council.
Arteta also engaged in research with the school’s sociology department. She’s also participated in qualitative research with Professors Dr. Diane Bates and Dr. Regina Kenan and Department Chair Dr. Elizabeth Borland.
Ms. Arteta graduated with her degree from the College in May. She’ll be attending Rutgers University’s Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy in the fall for a Masters of Public Policy.
