EOF Alumni Profile: Brenda Robles Cooke

Headshot of Brenda Robles Cooke.Brenda Robles Cooke, MBA is the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Delaware Valley Community Health, Inc. (DVCH). DVCH serves annually over 33,000 users with over 125,000 medical, dental, podiatry, and behavioral health visits.

Brenda has a B.S. in Business Management from the College of New Jersey and a Masters of Business Administration in Health Administration from Temple University, Philadelphia, PA. She was initially hired in 1995 as the Health Center Manager for DVCH’s largest center that predominantly serves the Latino community. In 1997, she was promoted into her present position and in 1999 successfully led the organization through its first Joint Commission survey. At that time, DVCH became the first Joint Commission Accredited community health center in Philadelphia, PA.

Brenda oversees the operations and facilities of four health centers, obstetrics and gynecology, podiatry, behavioral health, and homeless shelter program and is also responsible for accreditation, grants management, HIPAA, FTCA, insurance, new program implementation and is the Corporate Compliance Officer.

Brenda has taken a new role at DVCH as the Project Manager for an $13,000,000 health center that will replaced the existing Maria de los Santos Health Center in North Philadelphia. After six years of planning and fundraising, construction began in February 2007, and the health center was completed in January 2008.

Most recently, Brenda started BRC Consulting, LLC, to mentor, teach, and train middle managers in the community health care arena. Brenda also provides customized customer service and life skills workshops.

Brenda is a graduate of the Philadelphia Urban League Leadership Institute and is a Board member of the Life Long Learning Center of North Philadelphia, and the Area Education and Health Training Initiatives. Brenda volunteers her time at Camp Dream Catcher, an annual camp dedicated to children living with HIV/AIDS or affected by the disease. Brenda is an member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Brenda lives in southern, New Jersey with her husband, and two children.

Brenda’s passion and life mission is working in her community, giving back, and being a role model.
